Description
Prennek wooden serving dishes are aesthetically pleasing due to the contrast of the rustic, textured exterior against the smooth carved indents created in three sizes and with 1 to 3 dish sections. As with all Prennek creations the grain of the each type of wood differs in colour and texture – all this factors result in unique final products. These dishes can be used to house most food products or decorative items.
Approximate sizes:

Making a Serving Dish – The Prennek Process
- Source tree, I only use timber From trees less than 5 miles from my yard. (Some are wind blown, naturally fallen, or have to be removed under licence because they are dangerous).
- All timber is milled at the Pennek off grid work shop / yard.
- Timber is stacked, left to naturally air dry for a minimum of two years.
- Select top cut (normally a waste cut from milling timber).
- Mark out, power carve and hand chisel bowl shapes.
- Then hand shape edges, using a traditional draw knife.
- Cut board to length.
- Sand and soften all edges.
- Sand top and bottom of board through four different grades.
- Water pop board, to raise the grain.
- Final sanding.
- Add Prennek brand logo.
- Apply 2 coats of food safe mineral oil over whole board.
- Apply 2 coats of oil / bees wax mix.
- If required for particular board – add rubber feet with stainless steel screws.
- Final check, Serving Dish complete – ready to add to the online collection.
